Kristine L. Callahan
Kris Callahan focuses her practice on the areas of elder law, health law, and estate planning. Kris, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, moved to Fort Collins in 2006 after living in the Washington D.C. area for over 10 years. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Health Policy and Administration in 1992 and is still an avid fan of Penn State football. She has worked in a variety of settings in the health care field, including working as the administrator for a large medical practice, for over 10 years.
Kris became interested in the practice of law as a result of her experience in the health field. She obtained a certificate in Health Law from the University of Maryland School of Law's renowned Law & Health Care Program in 2004. While in law school, Kris served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy. Following her graduation, Kris worked as a Research Fellow for the Center for Tobacco Regulation, Litigation & Advocacy and also as the Coordinator for the Women, Leadership & Equality Program at the University of Maryland School of Law. After relocating with her family to Fort Collins, she worked at a Fort Collins law firm before pursuing her goal to practice elder law. Her background in health care is a tremendous asset in understanding public benefit programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, and Kris is able to draw upon her health care experience to advocate for her clients.
Kris serves on the Board of Directors for Elderhaus adult day program and is the chair of the 2010 Senior Law Day event, sponsored by the Elder Care Network. She also serves as a community member on the Poudre Valley Health System's Health Care Ethics Committee. She belongs to the Colorado Bar Association's Trusts and Estates, Elder Law and Health law sections and the Larimer County Bar Association.
Kris lives in Fort Collins with her husband, her two children, and their two golden retrievers. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, skiing and gardening.
